Your Wedding Music
Now this is a very personal call and an area that needs careful consideration as it represents at least 40% of your day so consider the DJs fee proportional to the overall cost of the wedding.
This doesn’t mean to say if you pay more you get more from your DJ so taking up references is worth strong consideration and most established professionals will have quite a selection.
The First Dance
From our experience we know most guests do not want to dance until about 9.30pm which is generally after the evening buffet. Therefore if you have your first dance at 8.00pm the DJ then needs to calm the mood down allowing the venue to bring the house lights up to serve the buffet.
This gives you a start and stop scenario so perhaps the first dance may be better after the evening buffet which would make the evening flow more smoothly.
Music Selection
There is a very simple answer to this and you either play music to your taste or you play to the wider audience. The easy solution is to play to the bulk of the group during the early part of the evening and move over to you style as the event progresses.
It is all a bit of a juggling act but an experienced DJ will be able to manage this and striking the balance is very difficult but it is where the DJs skill lies.
Age Range
Weddings are obviously family events therefore there will be quiet a variation of ages. Age does not necessarily reflect musical taste hence why taking requests in advance of your special day will allow you to make an informed decision.
